Virus Prevention: A Big Concern for Business

Little Rock, AR (July 1, 2004)

Of all the challenges today’s professionals face with their office’s information technology, computer viruses are the most invasive problems they encounter.

According to Edafio’s engineers, the single most-asked question they receive from clients is, “How can I avoid getting a virus and losing all my files?”  With the advent of larger and more insidious viruses being created, this question becomes more and more prevalent as the information technology industry continues to expand.

“As long as there are computers and networks, there will be computer viruses,” said Neal Fendley, an engineer with Edafio Technologies in Little Rock.  “However, there are some steps our clients can take to protect their systems from a virus and the damage it can cause.”

First, it is important that a client’s system is equipped with the proper detection and elimination software.  By searching through a system’s files, the software can determine if a virus has infected a particular computer and delete it without it ever affecting the business’s operation.

Second, every user of a business’s computer system must be aware that viruses can be acquired from contacts they know as well as from people they have never met.

“ In this situation, office personnel need to know that they should never open an attachment if they are not expecting to receive it or if it is from someone they do not know,” Fendley explained.  “If this does happen, someone should call their primary engineer immediately so he can arrest the problem as soon as possible.”

Edafio offers a diverse range of virus filters and options to avoid these devastating IT issues.  For more information about viruses and how to keep your office’s computer system operating smoothly, contact Edafio at 501-227-6944 or e-mail info@edafio.com.
